Computer modeling

In order to develop research and development potential and critical competencies, Advanced Research Institute of Inorganic Materials named after Academician A. A. Bochvar established Computer Simulation Center (CSC).

Priority areas of Computer Simulation Center activities are:

  • Simulation of 3D printing processes and properties of the resulting products
  • 3D modeling of composite products for various purposes (SiC, carbon fiber, metal composites)
  • 3D modeling of the behavior of new-generation fuel elements (ATF) during the campaign and in transition modes.

Computer Simulation Center provides services of FEM analysis of thermomechanical processes necessary for engineers and process specialists to optimize operation and substantiate operational parameters of final products.

Main advantages of CSC are:

1. The capacity to attract experts from various industries, science and technology to solve problems in the fields of physics and engineering.

2. The availability of experimental and production facilities, as well as research equipment, databases on the properties of many materials.

The Center cooperates with the leading Russian universities (NRNU MEPhI, MSU, BMSTU, Moscow Polytechnic University, the Research Center of Skolkovo Institute of Technology, etc.).

The computer Simulation Center employs the following software systems and possesses the following competencies for their use:

Licensed software: ABAQUS, MSC.Marc, ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS LS-DYNA.

Free software: CALCULIX, SALOME, LAMMPS, OVITO
