Postgraduate education

GENERAL INFORMATION

Postgraduate education at VNIINM, JSC carries out training activities, that is, on-the-job training of highly qualified personnel (part-time training) in accordance with the license for educational activities (dated 28.05.2015, registration number 1449, series 90L01 number 0008447).

The main objective of the Postgraduate Department is to organize training of highly qualified personnel -- candidates of science -- to provide deep professional knowledge in the field of materials science, nuclear fuel cycle technologies, development and design of fuel elements and components of fuel assemblies, as well as development of superconducting materials.

In accordance with Federal Law No. 273-FZ dated 29.12.2012, the postgraduate program of VNIINM, JSC is covers the following areas of training:

Area or training 14.06.01 -- Nuclear, thermal and renewable energy and related technologies

Focus/profile of training:

05.14.03 -- Nuclear power plants, including their design, operation and decommissioning (passport of academic specialty: 05.14.03)

Area or training 18.06.01 -- Chemical technology

Focus/profile of training:

05.17.02 -- Technology of rare, trace and radioactive elements (passport of scientific specialty: 05.17.02)

Area of training 22.06.01 - Materials technologies

Focus/profile of training:

05.16.01 - Metal science and heat treatment of metals and alloys (passport of scientific specialty: 05.16.01);

In accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards (FSES), postgraduate education in all areas of training is carried out by correspondence, and lasts for 5 years.

FSES 14.06.01 Nuclear, thermal and renewable energy and related technologies (training level of highly qualified personnel)

FSES 18.06.01 Chemical technology (training level of highly qualified personnel)

FSES 18.06.01 Materials technology (training level of highly qualified personnel).

ADMISSION TO POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Admission to postgraduate programs of VNIINM, JSC commences on 01.06.2020 and is held during the following time periods:

- acceptance of documents -- May 18 to August 21;

- entrance tests -- August 24 to September 24;

- recommendations of the Admissions Committee for admission for postgraduate training -- until September 26. Order of VNIINM, JSC No. 26/359-P "On admission to postgraduate training in 2020" dated 29.04.2020.

Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation No. 13 dated 12.01.2017 "On approval of the procedure for admission to higher education programs – programs for postgraduate training scientific and academic personnel".

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated August 15, 2013 No. 706 "On approval of the rules for providing paid educational services", the fee of providing paid educational services for training highly qualified personnel in VNIINM, JSC for the 2020/2021 academic year is 60,065 rubles, 00 kopecks. Order of VNIINM, JSC No. 26/345-P "On setting the fee for the 2020/2021 academic year" dated 24.04.2020

Academic year for postgraduates of the 1st year of study starts on October 1.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION

Applicants to postgraduate program must provide the following documents:

Application addressed to the Director General of VNIINM, JSC.

A copy of the state-issued education certificate (specialist's diploma, master's diploma) accompanied by the insert.

A copy of passport (pages 2, 3, 4 and 5). Applicants for postgraduate studies shall present the identity document and the higher educational institution graduation diploma personally.

Conclusion of a potential supervisor based on the results of the interview.

An extract from the resolution of the meeting of the collective body (Academic Council, Scientific Council, Technical Council, Scientific and Technical Council or other collective management body authorized to decide on this issue) of the organization where the candidate works on the recommendation for admission to graduate school.

A copy of the TIN certificate.

A questionnaire (filled out by the postgraduate program applicant personally) and one 3×4 format photo.

Consent to processing of personal data.

An introductory abstract on the chosen direction of training (scientific specialty).

Documents confirming individual achievements of the applicant.

The Admissions Committee reviews the documents submitted by postgraduate program applicants and decides on their admission to the entrance tests.

It is not possible to submit the documents required for admission in electronic form.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Admission to the extramural graduate program is based on the results of entrance tests (on a competitive basis)

The possibility of passing entrance tests remotely is not provided.

Applicants pass the following entrance tests:

- special discipline appropriate to the focus (profile) of the postgraduate scientific and pedagogical personnel training program (hereinafter referred to as the special discipline);

- proficiency in a foreign (English) language.

The level of knowledge of the applicant is evaluated by the Examination Board using a five-point system. Each entrance test is evaluated separately. The minimum number of points required for successful completion of the entrance test is three (satisfactory). Applicants who have received an unsatisfactory grade on any of the entrance exams will not participate in subsequent competition.

Entrance tests are conducted in written or oral form, or as a combination of these forms.

Appeal Commission resolves disputes related to entrance tests.

All entrance tests are conducted at the premises of VNIINM, JSC (5A, Rogova Street). A pass to enter the premises of VNIINM, JSC is issued by the Department of Postgraduate Studies four days before the entrance test.

Entrance tests are conducted in Russian.

ADMISSION TO TRAINING

Admission Committee decides on each applicant based on the results of entrance tests, to ensure that those most prepared for research work and scientific and pedagogical activities are enrolled on a competitive basis.

If the points obtained during the entrance tests are equal, the following individual achievements are evaluated:

The Admission Committee also considers the results of interviews with applicants conducted before the entrance tests.

TRAINING UNDER THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM

A post-graduate student must:

- fully implement the individual curriculum of the postgraduate student;

- pass candidate exams in a special discipline, as well as exams in history and philosophy of science and English;

- pass pass/fail exams in mandatory subjects, according to the approved working curriculum for postgraduate training in the relevant field of study;

- complete research and production and teaching internship;

- submit a scientific report on the main results of the prepared scientific qualification work (dissertation), issued in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

No later than 3 months after admission to the postgraduate program, the postgraduate student must approve the topic of their research and qualification work (dissertation) and the individual curriculum of the postgraduate student.

Postgraduate students shall pass intermediate certification twice a year.

Implementation of the approved individual plan of postgraduate student shall be monitored by Academic Supervisor, Postgraduate Committee and Postgraduate Office of JSC "VNIINM".

A graduate student who does not complete the individual plan within the established time frame is expelled from the graduate school.

CERTIFICATES OF STUDY

After the completion of the postgraduate training program, final scientific certification is carried out. This includes the presentation of a scientific report on the completed scientific qualification work (dissertation).

The postgraduate program graduate is issued the respective document -- certificate of completion of the postgraduate program.

A post-graduate student who has completed training but has not passed the final scientific certification is issued a certificate of training or the the certificate stating the period of study in postgraduate school.
